Broadway Jazz with Kate Garrett – Marrickville

Step out with Beginner Broadway Jazz! This dance course will cover the classics and the new, think of musical theatre tunes such as Cabaret, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Lion King, Cats, An American In Paris, Singing in the Rain, Hairspray and more.

Broadway Jazz is an expressive style of movement mixing traditional jazz steps with personality and life to suit the story they are matched with. You will learn leaps, turns, kicks, step ball change, gallops and doing some basic work with a cane all set to vintage and modern show tunes

The class will start out with a 10-minute jazz warm-up before you start working on technique for specific moves and then combining the moves you have had broken down into a choreography.

This is a Beginner level course.

Your instructor for his course is Kate Garrett, a Sydney based dancer and choreographer, who also has a passion for dance photography and film. Kate grew up in London, where she completed an Extended Diploma in Dance at Lewisham College for 2 years before moving to Australia where she completed her Bachelor of Dance at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) in Sydney, majoring in contemporary. Kate has also trained in ballet and jazz.
