‘Weichspüler’ is a live performance and film project currently in development.

‘Weichspüler’ follows a structured improvisation score where one dancer had a GoPro camera attached to their torso, given the name “crotch cam”. The “Dancer’s POV” footage has been interlaced with footage filmed from the audiences perspective to create a surreal insight into performance.

Performance is generally seen from the audience’s perspective and rarely seen from the performer themselves, creating a disconnection. We wanted to explore how a camera interprets and expresses a performer’s perspective during performance. What insight does it give to the spectator? How does the knowledge of being watched impact the spectator’s experience?

The first development of the live performance aspect was presented at On The Cusp 2017.
