Weichspüler

Weichspüler is a live performance and film project currently in development.

Weichspüler follows a structured improvisation score where one dancer had a GoPro camera attached to their torso, given the name “crotch cam”. The “Dancer’s POV” footage has been interlaced with footage filmed from the audiences perspective to create a surreal insight into performance.

Performance is generally seen from the audience’s perspective and rarely seen from the performer themselves, creating a disconnection. We wanted to explore how a camera interprets and expresses a performer’s perspective during performance. What insight does it give to the spectator? How does the knowledge of being watched impact the spectator’s experience?
