Join us for a fun and engaging workshop where you will learn new ways focusing on alignment and core stability.

This is an hour and a half class where you will strengthen your body and learn new ways of engaging your muscles.

This workshop will be a beginner class for adults where you will learn the basics of Progressing Ballet Technique and Ballet. This class will focus on developing correct use of muscles and technique. It is suitable for not only dancers but people who have had injuries or haven’t trained for a while. This class will help you strengthen your body in a safe, nurturing environment.

Ages 15+

Classes are taught by Bonnie Curtis, who is the only Certified Progressing Ballet Technique teacher in the Southern Highlands.

This workshop is limited to a maximum of 10 participants only. 


About the Teacher

Bonnie Curtis is a multi-faceted artist, driven by an inquisitive imagination and a desire to discover. Born and bred in Sydney, Bonnie trained at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts before moving to Europe to further her artistic development.

During her career, Bonnie has worked as an independent artist, playing the role of producer, director, choreographer and performer in works for film, installation and live performance. Her creations and collaborations have been featured at ImPulsTanz, Museum Moderner Kunst (AT), Girona Film Festival (ES), Quadstock Music Festival (US), CinéWomen|Womenartconnect (EU), Asia International Youth Short Film Exhibition (CN), Biennale of Sydney, Sydney World Film Festival, and Sydney Fringe Festival (AU), among others.

Bonnie has lived in the Southern Highlands since 2017 and has been teaching dance in both the Highlands and Sydney for the past 9 years.

What is Progressing Ballet Technique?

Progressing Ballet Technique by Marie Walton-Mahon (PBT) is an innovative program for dancers to develop their body awareness and learn how to train their muscle memory to achieve their best in classical ballet. Progressing Ballet Technique increases muscle memory, improves flexibility and strength, enhances ballet technique and understanding of muscles.

Progressing Ballet Technique is great for people who would like to improve their strength, flexibility, balance and overall fitness in a fun and safe class environment.

Do I need Ballet training to join this class?

Not at all. This is a beginner class for all ages and abilities!

Yes, we do! Get in touch to find out more and get a quote. Our workshops and courses are tailored to suit the needs of your students.

Do I need any special equipment?

Progressing Ballet Technique uses equipment to help strengthen and develop an understanding of your body. The main item used is a fit ball, which gives you feedback through movement. Other items used include resistance bands (also known as a Theraband) to provide resistance and pressure, a soft ball to engage our inner thighs and core, a lacrosse ball to roll out the fascia in our feet and a yoga mat to lie on during floor exercises.

We provide equipment to use during class free of charge.
Can I purchase equipment to use at home?

We have the correct length resistance bands and lacrosse balls available for you to purchase. They are available as a bundle for $24 when you book a workshop package. Normally $29.

Items will also be available for sale in the studio but stock is limited.
