Updates and Announcements for December 2021

What a year.
Thinking about what to write to sum up the year that was makes me want a nap.
If you’re not feeling at least a little bit depleted after 2021, I’d love to know your secret.

At the end of 2020, I felt optimistic about the future. Don’t get me wrong, I still do, but I’d feel a lot better if 2021 was different. Each of us has struggled with our own challenges this year. Some of us more heartbreaking than others.

We’re approaching the end of a year and the beginning of another. So it’s a great time to start afresh and put the past behind us. Before we do that I’d like to celebrate the successes we had this year.

1. (un)bound.
A sold-out show that wasn’t cancelled or postponed. Yay!!!

2. Residency with Arts on Tour to develop Limits.
Working with sound designer Fi Lloyd-Harding and Dramaturg Nell Ranney was an invaluable experience.

3. Mentoring with Kay Armstrong.
Kay helped me find the voice hidden inside me. Limits wouldn’t have been what it was without her love and guidance. We also had a company workshop with Kay where she worked with us to find our funny.

4. Residency with Freeroam Theatre, supported by Southern Tablelands Arts.
A fantastic experience learning from Improv Theatre director Jhi Rayner.

5. Limits at Brand X.
My first solo work. What a thing that was. So exhilarating and liberating. And a raging success. Can’t wait to perform it again. And it’s available online with audio descriptions and captions so more people can experience it.

As for 2022, there are several things in the pipeline. As I always say, watch this space.

For now, I’m looking forward to catching up with friends and family I’ve hardly seen over the past 2 years.
I’ve learnt a valuable lesson this year through some of the things that have happened.
Life is short. Make the most of it. Cherish it. But also take the time to smell the roses and find the humour in things. These tiny, seemingly insignificant moments are what make life rich.

This year I’m taking some time off in January. Instead, I’ll catch up with family and friends, see Sydney Festival performances, and enjoy the summer sun. This will refill my energy stores for the exciting things happening in 2022.

I hope your festive season is filled with things that revitalise your energy and spirit for next year.

Here’s to 2022 and the new adventures awaiting us!
