IAN POTTER CULTURAL TRUST & VEOLIA CREATIVE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

We are VERY excited to announce that our Artistic Director Bonnie Curtis is a recipient of the Ian Potter Cultural Trust 2022 grant program and the 2022 Veolia Creative Arts Scholarship.

Bonnie has received funding to undertake practice based research and mentoring as part of ATLAS Programme for Choreographers at ImPulsTanz International Dance Festival, Vienna, Austria. ATLAS is a module-based training program for 20 international emerging choreographers, part of ImPulsTanz Vienna International Dance Festival.

ATLAS provides Bonnie with exceptional learning opportunities, enhancing her choreographic practice. Thousands of professional dancers, choreographers, and teachers worldwide connect, inspire, and exchange at the epicentre of contemporary dance in Vienna.

This opportunity will have a significant long-term impact on Bonnie’s career and professional development.

ATLAS will help Bonnie achieve her long-term career goal of becoming an internationally renowned choreographer who creates innovative, genre-defying and thought-provoking works, and become a leader, advocate, and representative for regional artists with disabilities in Australia and abroad.

“The Veolia Creative Arts Scholarship is one of only a limited number of scholarship opportunities available to rural and regional artists, and I am very proud that since 2008 it has supported 53 local artists to pursue their creative endeavours over the past 15 years,” Jennifer Lamb, Veolia Creative Arts Scholarship Patron.

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust aims to promote a vibrant, diverse arts sector in Australia and encourage the pursuit of excellence. Through support for talented emerging artists, the Trust’s grants reward commitment and passion, and support promising Australian artists to develop their skills and achieve their potential.

International professional development opportunities allow emerging or early-career artists to gain experience, develop networks and learn skills from the world’s best. The Trust believes these experiences are invaluable for the individual artists and for the ongoing development sector as a whole.

Upon Bonnie’s return, she will hold a public workshop and share the work she develops during ATLAS in the Wollondilly and Southern Highlands region.

Congratulations to Bonnie for her success in receiving this support.

MADE FROM SCRATCH – MERRIGONG
Part of Bonnie’s internship at Merrigong Theatre Company, she is producing Made From Scratch this June!

Made From Scratch is a multi-artform performance night offering artists space and support to test new ideas in front of a live audience.

Here, experimentation is key.

The beauty is you get to experience a little bit of everything. These events will showcase new works from local artists across performance, film, stand-up comedy, poetry, music, cabaret, circus and anything in between.

Line-up:

Old school RnB, soul, funk and all-around good vibes from South Coast based singer, Blessie Pica.

Rad, rhythmic and percussive original music from Shellharbour duo, JOCEAN.

Gregory Paul Mineef, South Coast composer & multi-instrumentalist will perform solo piano works and tracks from his new album Incidental, along with video projection.

Indie/folk vibes and original songs from local musician, Nicci Ru.

Comedian Julian Frazer brings plenty of laughs while living by the motto “if you can’t find your own tragedy funny then it’s just tragic”.

Illawarra based theatre practitioner Leah Herbert previews a scene from her body-positive work, Fat Girl.

The night will be hosted by comedian and writer, Jacinta Gregory.
