Bonnie Curtis Projects Invites Audiences To Join Their Creative Process This March.

In a revealing work-in-progress showing, Sydney dance company, Bonnie Curtis Projects will share snippets from their new work at March Dance, on 27th March at Brand X, Sydney.

In a sequel of their award-winning seminal work GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS, this yet-to-be-named work explores the impacts of social media on body image and the objectification of women through a post #MeToo lens.

Bonnie Curtis Projects invites audiences to join the conversation firsthand as they experience the creative process. BCP will share their inspirations, thoughts and ideas alongside chosen moments from their upcoming work. Reflecting a microcosm of Australian society, this work-in-progress features fierce emerging dance artists from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.

Artistic Director Bonnie Curtis says: “It’s important to have conversations with our audience about the experiences of Australian women. Research shows there is still a long way to go to improve women’s lives. Creating works that explore gender inequality allows conversations. Conversations that share stories and challenge the status quo.”

“It’s thanks to festivals like March Dance, who help us celebrate the strength of independent dance culture and create a platform for works that explore critical issues to be seen by wider audiences.”

Fast becoming known for its combination of performance styles, this year’s work-in-progress showing as part of the month-long festival will captivate and challenge audiences.

Jeni Wilson of Weekend Notes Melbourne described Bonnie Curtis Projects work as “unique and clever combination of dance styles, theatre, satire and comedy… interactive, provocative and relatable.”
