(un)bound 2021 – We did it!
Our first performance back on a post-lockdown stage.
I want to say a huge thank you to our audiences, many of whom came from far and wide to see us back on stage.
Having your friendly, supportive faces in the audience was such a pleasure.
Annandale Creative Arts Centre, AMPA, and Sydney Vintage Dance Studio, Dirtyfeet, Critical Path, March Dance, City of Sydney, Brand X, Arts on Tour, Create NSW and Regional Arts NSW and our Patreons who provided us with the resources to work on our ideas and create (un)bound.
Coti Cibils, David Bonnell and Rolling Media who took incredible imagery of (un)bound.
My wonderful mentor Kay Armstrong who has been a guiding and supportive light in the journey of my first solo work.
She gave me new ways of approaching the creative process, the confidence to take risks and trust my gut.
Dramaturg Nell Ranney and composer Fiona Lloyd-Harding who have been an incredible duo to work with.
Holly Craig, Tammy Bouman, Aroha Pehi and Imogen Chen, who were part of my Dirtyfeet Choreographic Lab last year.
Their ideas, input and contribution were a catalyst for how I went about creating this solo.
Our wonderful backstage and FOH crew Ella, Courtney, Jessye-lee and my partner Scott.
On lights and sound, our stage manager Fiona Lloyd Harding.
Your help made this the first season we have produced where I actually felt calm and relaxed before a show.
Last but definitely not least, the biggest thank you goes to my incredible dancers and choreographers.
So proud of what these incredible women have made over the past 3 months.
For many of them, this was their first adventure of making a work for the stage.
A huge round of applause for them taking a risk and putting themselves and their ideas out there for the world to see.
While Bonnie Curtis Projects is my baby, it’s only possible with the support, hard work and love of many, many people.
Thank you to everyone involved in this incredible moment.
Lots of love,
Bonnie xo
