Updates and Announcements for April 2021
We’re you able to catch our (un)bound performance just over a week ago?
It was so great to be back on stage after having to postpone Wonderland last year. We had lots of positive feedback too so that was definitely a cherry on top.
Made up of 6 provocative pieces, (un)bound explores the idea of being unrestricted, while also being bound by factors like our internal voice and society.
It dissects how our imagination could set us free in a world dictated by data.
It delves into identity, societal expectations and chance, and examines limitations, stereotypes and lived experiences as a female living with disability–among other powerful ideas.
Each piece is choreographed by a cast of fierce emerging dancers, such as
Bonnie Curtis, Kate Garrett, Olivia Hadley, Bridget McAllister, Sabrina Muszynski and Reina Takeuchi.
Support independent dance.
LIMITS – JUNE 18 AND 19 AT THE FLYING NUN
Photography Credit: David Bonnell – Sydney Dance Photography
Choreographed and performed by Bonnie Curtis, Mentored by Kay Armstrong, Sound Design by Fiona Lloyd Harding, Dramaturgy by Nell Ranney
A grotesque creature navigating the world through the lens of a stereotypical “hot-body”. A creature trying to live up to the expectations of the world around her, riddled with insecurity and self-hate. Sabotaged by her limitations.
